The Final Beach Cleanup Tally

A small volunteer helping to sort through the rubbish.

The first of the big cleanups started in June this year, the last was last week. Forty one volunteers were involved with the cleanups which covered the coast from Lookout Point to Omaui Beach. We counted the amount of sacks we collected, weighed the rubbish and counted the plastic bottles... In total we found, bagged and carried 136 oyster sacks full of rubbish. They weighed 1301.5kg and included 2238 plastic bottles. Good on us.
