It's a Blog!

Aseroa rubra, Stinkhorn fungi/Flower fungi
I have been blaming the recent lack of blogging on my broken camera, but upon sighting bizzare pieces of art from the earth (above) I knew they had to be blogged. -I stole this picture of the Stinkhorn fungi from someone else's blog about dodgy mushrooms (thanks). I have seen several Stinkhorns recently under the big pine trees beside the cross-country bike track on Bluff Hill. They look to me as if some alien child had sculpted them and accidentally dropped them and they've fallen onto our planet (yes, Bluff is a planet).
I sniffed it, but to no avail, -aparently flies are attracted to the scent of the snot stuff in the middle, which contains spores that the flies then distribute. Fascinating.
